Having to replace the Computer Immobilizer Module on a 2011 Toyota Rav4 Limited. Can't find it. Where is it located?
Had one made by the Toyota dealer, The toyota dealer was unable to program it to the car. Said the computers had to be replaced as they were not communicating. So when you say had to program a new key right now there is no key or you already had one made by the dealer?
They tried to reseed the computer, it didn't work. Told me all three computers had to be replaced as they weren't communicating with each other.Ok now we are getting some where. The dealer should know what they are doing but maybe this one is clueless or want to rip you off to the hilt.
When all the keys are lost you can't program a new key. The ECU needs to be reset. To do this this requires a reseed code. The reseed code allows you to create a new master key and then make more other keys. I would either go to another Toyota dealer or to a locksmith that specialize in making new fob keys.
Can't seem to find it in the repair manual either?
You definitely should have someone else look at it. They are just throwing parts at it.I have the same problem with 2012 RAV4 Limited edition. both of my smart key stopped working and locksmith tried to reset the smart module and ended up losing both smart keys (which i could still use when tap on push button) but after the reset it didnt event start the car. went to Toyota dealership and they initially said need a new smart key that didn't work then got a new smart ECU that didnt work then they said its the NEW STEERING ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY got that and that didnt work. now they are saying it is the IMMOBLIZER MODULE. I have ordered the IMMOBLIZER MODULE and waiting if it will fix the remote programming issue,
How did you fix your problem what was the issue??
no I wasn't going to pay for all the part which is not needed. You definitely should have someone else look at it. They are just throwing parts at it.
Are you paying for all this things that weren't broken??
