I Have a 2006 Toyota rav4 4cyl, I have a code P0778 saying its a pressure control solenoid b. The car is in the shop right now and I got a used ECM put in it but the lights came on again and now I'm clueless. The guy is saying that the value body looks fine. I noticed that the transmission fluid is dark but not black but it smells burnt, not sure if that could be the problem. Not sure if it can be a wiring harness.

I really need help, I own a 06 base model 2AZ-FE with the dash light (Eng Light-VSC and the symbol of the car with the skids marks) I used a OBII and read P2420 Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Control Circuit High. I first replaced the gas cap( oem New) and same problem, them The Charcoal canister ( brand new oem toyota) same problem and last I replaced the vacuum switch, yes all 3 major components for the emission system. My problem still going on. I reset and clear the codes, after 2 or 3 days they come right back...PLEASE HELP
Hello Did you fix your problem with the code p2420 ?

EDMR2 hasn't been on the forum for over five years so we just don't know what happened.

That paper clip method worked great. You have to remember to remove the paper clip, or it can confuse the heck out of you. After collecting codes, I pulled the suggested fuses the next day. I was disappointed at seeing the flashing, but as I looked for my paper clip to re-check codes, I realized I had left it on the OBD2 connector.

Codes collected were
cruise control light: 69
Traction control light cope 4351
ABS light code: 41
Check engine code:29
TPMS light code: 24
4WD light code: 8294 (low voltage?)

So it appears to have been a transient condition. :D, but I have not yet driven since getting the codes cleared.

hi, been reading this thread and other resources. my circumstances are described below.

2007 rav4 v6 2wd / cel, vsc, trac lights are on.

dtc determined was p0606 and independent shop asked me to go to dealer to reflash the ecm as per a tsb since no other faults show up. route was suggested vs buying a new ecm to see if other error codes surface up post reflash.

using the jumper method i get the following:
CEL: 63
VSC: 51 = Engine Control System Malfunction - Engine control system
rest are fine

i could not find any resources for interpreting CEL = 63 other than something in the honda forums where it states 63 = Secondary oxygen sensor circuit

does this point to replacing the o2 sensor?

in terms of remedies applied so far:
1. new gas tank cap
2. vacuum hose replaced

the above was triggered roughly 350 miles after changing the cabin air filter and engine air filter (hence suspected vacuum hose replacement). since i was on a cross country drive, quick searches (and easy parts replacement) led the decision to new gas tank cap.

i didn't see any responses, but have decided to go ahead with the o2 b1s2 replacement - and see how it goes (not very scientific, yes i know, but just for the fun of it).

the freeze frame data showed high variation in the impedance value of the b1s2 sensor (>15k ohms) and reading other threads and tsb references decided to order the Denso 234-4501 Oxygen Sensor for the replacement. will keep this thread posted on how it goes.

in general for others who are confounded in this mystery of a single P0606 error code with no other 'supplemental' error codes below is some related info where p0606 could be indicative (as a result) of a p0138 (cause) issue.

Communication Number: T-SB-0001-10, Date: 2013-08-08 Category: 060000 ENGINE (PWS) Summary: TOYOTA: UPDATED INFORMATION REGARDING THE RESPONSE OF THE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR, THAT IS INCORRECT AND ALSO, AN INCORRECT OXYGEN SENSOR OPERATION MAY BE PRESENT, DUE TO ECM/PCM PROCESSOR P0606 DTC. *PE

i went ahead and installed a new b1s2 02 sensor, part info- Denso 234-4501 Oxygen Sensor, ordered off amazon for $60. it does come along with the anti seize compound (you don't need to buy it separately if you don't have one). i did also buy pb blaster and the harbor freight o2 sensor socket set (makes the job easier as well as torque-ing it right). the old sensor was a little bit of pain to get out, but was not too bad. cleared dtc codes after the replacement.

drove ~60 miles since, no error as yet. will wait for more cycles to go through before i conclude it fixed.

will keep this thread posted after a few days.

i'll call it official now. no more warning lights, been through plenty of drive cycles and no dtc detected through obd reader. quite the relief. do investigate this path if you also happen to get the p0606 error with no other accompanying errors. clue might be in the freeze frame data on the p0606 where you might see the anomaly reading of ohms of b1s2 vs b2s2.

Also posting the observation made - (to make a good guess to suspect the b1s2). It just looked suspect and besides at 60K miles it's suggested to replace O2 sensors in preventative maintenance - I figured why not do this project for fun anyway. Separately my friend and I are building wooden stands this weekend which I will post for work under the car - perhaps slightly better than ramps (potentially safer).

First of all quite a thread, appreciate all the great info! My 07 V6 139k just lit up with CEL, VSC and the trac control icon, exactly as picured in post #1. The following are my codes. After reading thru this and a few other threads I'm wondering if taking a shot at replacing the #4 coil would be worth the effort. I'm NOT a DIY car guy but I believe this is one of the "front" 3, have to go back and check. If so I could probably manage.
Hesitating at take off then smoothes out, RPM seems a bit low as if there's a load somewhere, Firestone tech said rare all 6 coils would go bad at once, possible faulty ECM module, but couldn't check further today.
Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on the codes. Thanks

2008 RAV4 (109000 miles)...PS, SRA (Airbag), ABS, Brake (and low tire) lights.....car sits in the driveway. Went to start it up and am getting these lights. My steering wheel appears to be locked. If I can get it going..should I: take it to an Autozone to check the codes (less than 3 miles from my hours), to our local car maintenance shop (trusted) - less than 2 miles away, or the dealer (about a 15 min drive?). I'm a bit hearbroken, I've had my car 13 years now and not sure the best course of action. Afraid if the bill is too high we may just consider a new/used car.

The first thing I'd do is clear the codes & lights using the jumper and tap-the-brake-pedal method discussed near the beginning of this thread. That may at least make the car driveable to the local trusted shop. Then see what their all-codes reader shows. Also check the pressure in all five tires to turn off the TPMS light.

Didn't get far but I managed to back it out, the steering is extremely hard to turn (esp to the right). Now the fan/heater/air doesn't work. I also checked the air in all tires, one was low, but the tire light is still on (didn't clear). I'm going to try to get it to the shop near here for diagnosis. I'm so bummed.

Power steering is electric. Try checking fuses. Can you run a multimeter OK?

For the tire pressure, also pump up the spare.

Hi Everyone

06 base 4 cyl with 250k miles

I posted about this separately and was redirected here

All 3 lights - VSC, CEL, 4WD come on simultaneously. They were intermittent for a while but now stay on. I’ve tried clearing them both before and after replacing the gas cap, replacing the spark plugs, and checking for any loose air intake hoses or clamps (I didn’t see any). The lights come back.

The codes are

P0766 - shift solenoid D performance/stuck off
P0983 - shift solenoid D control circuit high

But the vehicle seems to drive and shift normally. The only abnormality is that I can’t set cruise control and I assume VSC and AWD aren’t working either.

I think I’ve probably exhausted my mechanical ability/knowledge at this point and will take it to the shop for diagnostics but if you have any additional thoughts I’d be grateful.
