Load Capacity Sticker

Why are we debating something like this at length? I don't really care what the sticker says as I never load my RAV4 anywhere near the maximum.

Yes. If the sticker does not have hand written numbers on it... it's NOT accurate. The stickers are ONLY for port/dealer installed options. And yes... the sticker is installed at the US port.

Total load capacity: Without third seat 825 lb. (375 kg)

Take 175 pounds off of that, you are at 600. With 5 people, each person could be allotted 150 pounds of body weight plus luggage.

Or if you wanted to pick up 6 50-pound bags of concrete mix, you would get enough to set maybe 3 fence posts. Would you take somebody shopping with you on that trip? Be selective.

Not too sure about the math here. 825-175 = 650. 650 / 5 = 130 (light adult, no luggage).

Do you use 100 lbs. of concrete to set each fence post? They must be large posts that need a lot of stability! 8) BTW, I would take somebody along since they could help load the bags into the RAV4 and the RAV4 wouldn't be overloaded. 650 - (6 x 50) = 350 lbs remaining (two adults)

I just got a sticker in the mail.

It says it's reduced by ZERO pounds. It also says to replace the sticker already there which says 175lbs.

I'm just going to take the old sticker off and not put any on.

I just noticed the 175 lb sticker on my 08. I don't know what port installed option weighs 175 lb. No 3rd row, but I do have a roof rack. A 650 lb capacity is not that much. WIth just me, wife & 6 yr old, we are probably at 350-400 lbs. One more adult and a little cargo would put us over the limit.

I carry a lot of meat to the farm market in our Rav4 and it was scary driving as it was so light in the front end. I installed air bags and now it is a non issue. I could see safety people thinking an overloaded Rav is not a good thing.

The forums come through again. :) I know this thread is a little old, but I wanted to voice my appreciation for the information. I spotted this sticker when I bought my '09 Sport last year and always planned to research it.

My sticker is the one for 175#, so I assume it is the generic one from the discussion. I'm guessing that's not even close since I don't have much in the way of extras (sun roof, no tow package, no 3rd row seating, etc). There was no text hand-written, so I'm not sure what the actual value should be. I use my RAV4 for work on occasion, so I'm sure we've come close to 800# with 4 large adult males plus cargo. Should I be concerned?

For the same reasons my bank sends me a paper bill every month to tell me that I have to pay my balance of $0 :)

But I guess, it is better to have the sticker to say "zero". No sticker could imply that the sticker was misplaced.

My RAV has no sticker. May be I should print my own sticker after adding side steps, fog lights, ... ! ;)
