Hi. I searched but couldn't find any threads on rear fog lights for the Rav4. Maybe that answers my own question, but anyone have any thoughts on using one or both of rear reflector slots for a rear fog light?
I understand Euro models have these, but haven't found any info on available lamps or options for such. Any thoughts/experiences to share?
I've got a 2011 Rav4 Base V6 4WD (and have installed a Class III trailer hitch and wiring harness.) I'm also thinking about the option of converting a hitch receiver brake light into a rear fog light.
All of this to tackle after I install my just ordered new front LED fog light kit...

Check out my posts, I installed some brake/park lights in the reflectors place, I guess they can be wired to function as fog lights, they are also led.

What's the purpose? Do they come on as additional back up lights?
I think in Veliksam's case, they function as additional brake lights/tail lights.

No, I'm asking about rear fog lights.
Mostly used in Europe, rear fog lights come on when you switch on the front fog lights which will make you more visible to the driver behind you during a heavy fog. All German cars have those, usually one of the rear brake lights will have an additional bulb or two stage bulb.

Ok thanks. Not that I was out driving around in the English fog but I've been to Europe and didn't see this at all. Guess I was too busy sightseeing to notice.

I was actually in Taiwan recently and I think most/ all RAVS there had red brake lights in the openings where we have reflectors. Pretty cool.

On a random sidenote, it seems most RAVS there come with some pretty awesome 'scene' (for lack of a better term) on the spare tire cover. IE I saw a few white RAVS with a penguin scene there.

When I lived in the U.K. switchable red rear fog lights were on all vehicles, but that was a few years ago and the regular tail lights in general were relatively dim.

Bumpin da thread.

I wired up a custom rear fog light on my 04 crossfire and found it to be quite a cool mod. NOBODY IN nh seems to have one.

So recentky I got a door jamb safty light -194 bulb, red light off of a totaled volvo. Thinking of putting it in the middle of the d/s reflector at the bottom of the bumper or on another location near there. I have some bright 194 bulbs from superbrightsleds that will work great, user friendly.

I plan to do the same with the Rav4. I just didn't have a chance to. I have a rear foglight housing for my Corolla. I replace my entire taillight assembly with the one that comes in the Corolla Altis. They are LED and comes with rear fog replacing the driver side reverse light. I had to do the custom wiring so that I can add a switch for the rear fog lights. The only downside is that I only have one reverse light now. Only on the passenger side. It still looks pretty cool though. Toronto fogs can get pretty thick when we do get them. Better safe than sorry.

That's perfect. Too bad that I just bought the red LED brake lights/tail lights:(
It would have worked wonderfully well with my backup camera. I would have wired the white LED to come on when I put the car in reverse.

Check out these rear fog light replacements I just bought off ebay;

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

They replace the reflector in your bumper. They are like a whole new tail light with brake lights & reverse lights all in one unit. Can't wait for them to rock up & fit them!
How did the lights work out? Are they really bright? I was thinking of ordering and use those as rear fog lamps. Did you get the clear or red lens?
