Happy New Year everyone!
I have a 2009 V6 Rav4 with 90k miles on it and the 4WD light has been on for the past 3.5 years, I live in the south so I'm fine with just a FWD drive Rav. Almost a year ago I finally brought it into a local shop that only works on Toyotas. They ran codes and c1298 popped up, they said the electromagetic coupler needs replacing which would cost $2300 parts and labor.
I searched extensively throughout this forum, the information here is invaluable!! I obviously found all the issues with the whining/growling rear end but I have zero noise coming from the back! Sort of wish I did so I could have had my rear end replaced years ago.

It's exactly what I'm experiencing! Unfortunately it's all in Spanish and my Spanish is limited... All I can gather is that he tested the line for power and cleared the memory at the end, if someone fluent in Spanish could translate; I'd be more than appreciative of your efforts! Hope it will be a simple and easy fix to get AWD back... Thanks!!
