Tens of thousands of “micro abrasions” on the windshield that are noticeable really only when the sun is low on the horizon (or any strong, concentrated light source is shown at the right angle). I noticed this a few times driving home in the late afternoon when the sun was shining right into the windshield. The micro abrasions scatter the light making it that much harder to see. Although I noticed this effect on the new ’19 Rav4 Adventure that I drove, I do not recall this on other newer vehicles that I’ve driven. This is typically what you would experience with an older windshield that has been “sandblasted” by exposure to many years of road debris.

My 2022 has this problem.
Anyone else had their windshield changaed under warranty?
thanks

My son’s 2023 Rav4 has several vertical scratches on front and rear windshield glass. If using any squeegee to clean windows, he uses it horizontally so that cannot be the culprit. Front was worse and dealership replaced under warranty no questions asked. Seems to be a soft glass.

Don't know what would be considered a defect vs what Toyota/Dealers call 'normal', but here we go.

After 1 month and just below 1200mi of ownership of a Canadian built '24 XLE gas from August/Sept Production-
  • small squeak/rattle - somewhere in passenger side dashboard
  • one or two of the fan settings seem to create an electrical buzz which also seems to be coming from passenger side
  • movement of the hood at anything 55mph+ and idle frequency also causes it to bounce a little at stop lights (Dealer + others here calling it normal, though I think this one seems worse than others I've driven, going to try another dealer)
  • slight vibration of side mirrors causes visual distortion at highway speeds (know this is a TSB and plan to have it taken care of.)
  • windshield micro scratches starting to show up from highway debris/wipers
  • wiper sensor seems to be temperamental - I believe have caught it running in auto after remote start w/o any liquid on the window or obstruction of the sensor.
  • Head unit - has been very temperamental as to when it'll connect to my phone automatically and actually run Android Auto when starting the car.

this is probably more to do with the tires and maybe the wind as well but the road noise at 60+mph wasn't noticed untila drive without wireless data to connect Android Auto (no music)

editing this, 5 mo of ownership
  • The windshield seems to be pretty delicate, I'm noticing some nicks in it already (I always do my best to stay well behind other vehicles on the freeway specifically for this reason) which is kind of surprising.
  • at some point over the winter it appears as if some of the plastic trim at the bottom of the passenger rear window has come (unglued?), as it is now popping up and doesn't quite match where it meets the front window.

Same here for right side of dash on two of ours. I reach as far as I can just before the dash speaker grill and press down hard while driving on rough roads and it stops. Dealer fixed it. It was actually the A-pillar passenger side. head unit issues also. Regularly disconnects from Apple CarPlay. Sometime it will reconnect within 10 seconds and other time not. Also for voice texting, voice texting and Siri ONLY come out if drivers side dash and/or Drivers side a-pillar speaker. With music on, you cannot hear the text, etc. it’s a known issue. However with voice navigation, it comes out of both drivers side and passenger side dash and/or a-pillar speakers which is great unless music is very loud. Adjust volume doesn’t work

I think the dash squeaks come from the plastic dash being rather tignt in fitment to the side pillars, pros & cons to having tight fitments.
Mirror vibration was some sort of TSB a couple of years back, I never had that fix done.
Micro scratches on glass, could just be soft glass, but it happens.
Problems with the electronics most likely comes from poor QA, the 5th gen Rav seems to have a dozen different radio systems with varying firmwares.

Chalk is all up to............ "it's a Rav", a gazillion prints from various printers so there's gonna be defects and quality issues. Next time buy a Honda or upgrade into Lexus.

I thought my 2019 had a defective seat lever but it was a user issue. I did not pull the lever hard enough. Thus far, I have observed zero issue. What about you? Any defects from the factory?
Uneven gap around hood. Minor but noticeble. Body metal flexes when pushed. Otherwise great vehicle.

Distorted side view mirror really is a problem
Driver's side or passenger side? While the passenger side is almost always a convex mirror, the drivers is usually a flat mirror. But a few European RAV4s will come with a convex ("wide view") mirror on the drivers side which, if you are not used to it, could seem to be distorted. (I put a European "wide view" mirror on the drivers side of my USA RAV4).

First, see if your mirror is convex or flat using a metal straight edge thus:

Here are the part numbers for the European "wide view" mirrors:

I’ve mirror distortions on the driver’s side (2025 RAV4 LE gas). And the loaner I have (2024 RAV4 LE gas) has the same issue.
The passenger side mirror is fine in both cars.
Front windshield distortions (vertical waves and localized waves) is another issue that I’ve experienced so far.

Nice plants :)

2020 RAV4 LE AWD non-hybrid (made in Canada).
125,000 km (74,500 miles).
DTC P2271-18
"A/F (O2) Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich Bank 1 Sensor 2"

Local Toyota dealer asked $390 CAD for the downstream oxygen sensor. Looks like big names: Denso, NTK, Bocsh don't offer aftermarket downstream sensor.
I ended up getting a sensor from Japan via eBay for $175 CAD + $40 CAD (taxes and custom duty).

It's a Denso site issue. The metadata attached to the 234-9304 also shows up on many parts site as not a fit for 2020 LE, but that's wrong.

5th gen NAP USA 2.5L gas all use the same sensors, No.2(downstream) are all 89467-0R100
The 89467-42170 shows up as a part for "JPP USA A25AFXS CVT M" model.
Toyota parts site list -42170 for all the models, and part is $148.

Same site lists 0R100 for same set of vehicles, but its $2 more.

Notice the -0R100, I believe that's a supersede of the 42170.

Soooooo, if the 234-9304 works on a 2021 2.5L (direct swap for a 89467-0R100), then it also works on the 2019 and 2020.

I will try and find a x-ref from Denso to Bosch. I use the Bosch ones on my Lexus.
I am certain the 234-9304 is the same part as the -0R100. I am also rather certain the -0R100 replaces the -42170

It does also appears that 89467-xxxxx is the rear sensor for lots of Toyota models going back to 2018 (v6 and the 2.5L-4). I suspect the -xxxxx portion might define the length of the cable.

234-9304 also replaces Toyota 89467-33210
