T-TT-0630-20 is over 14 months ago. They have had all that time to come up with a corporate response. They changed the part on new builds. What do you think the chances are they will offer a warranty extension both redefining the failure as covered and extend the coverage?.
14 months ago, and up until recently, we were in the middle of a 100 year global pandemic. Give them a minute, would ya?

Car care nut says they’re cooking something up.

I will let you decide for yourself. The picture below is of both sides of my first issue that I was dealing with. The Toyota rep was insistent that it was sealer on top of the paint. I will let you decide for yourself it it looks like something on top of the paint, or unpainted. It went all the way to regional and they were going to do nothing and I was told their rep is their eyes and ears in the field. No matter how wrong they are. Regional got the same pictures you are seeing here. The area in question was hidden from the consumer. Nobody knew that it even existed apparently until I pointed it out. The day I was to pick up my car from the body shop the lady from regional called me with a 180 degree change in demeanor and "we will pay for it, just send me a copy of your repair bill showing your VIN". Come to find out all of them made in Japan had the issue and the ones made in Canada did not. I found out later that someone at the dealership that I bought the car from started examining all of the cars in the parking lot and found the differences between Canada and Japan. Regional told me that they were going to send out a notice to all affected customers. I highly doubt they did. It will become a corrosion issue down the road, if it hasn't already.
What are we looking at?

The attitude and helpfulness could have been immediate. The paperwork to extend the warranty takes maybe a month in a bureaucracy. The hardware longer.

I read your earlier posts and am listening.
I'll do an inspection and possible cleanup but I won't be using any coatings.
If anything, I will remove the metal clamp if that appears to be the source of the corrosion and hold the ends of the braids some other way.

Just an FYI, the Metal Band also serves as a Electromagnetic Shield. I’d be wary as not replacing it will cause noticeable EMI interference with some systems in the vehicle. This type of clamp is used throughout EV/HV vehicles.

The poor design causing corrosion is a separate issue.

Fully understand and agree about the EMI.
If my metal band is corroded I'll remove it to stop the catastrophic failure and replace it with something, not sure what yet. Will cross that bridge at that time. Need to inspect first.

I think this is apples to oranges really. I feel like this is one of those easy DIY solutions that affect nearly every vehicle to some degree and that are easier to handle than run up the chain. I don’t feel like this is relatable to a hybrid wiring harness failing.

I think it’s kind of funny that the top discussions in this forum are either about the high-voltage wire connector problem or “when is my RAV4 going to be here?” or “how long does it take to get a RAV4?” or “My RAV4 went from an A status to an F status what does that mean?” or “my RAV4 is going through the Panama Canal right now aboard the SS Toyota, when will it be at PONY?”

Quick questions that may have been covered over 34 pages but is it true that this part was revised for ‘22 onwards? And would the Toyota Extracare platinum warranty cover this in an instance of failure?

Yep the 22 should have the "opened/notched" version of the cable (I've got the new part on my Feb 21). And in Canada, it has been mentioned that this would be covered in the additional warranty, but better have that in writing by the service/finance director of your dealership as I understand there is some wording that could make it not covered depending on who you talk to.

Glad to hear its been revised at least, this was the wording that worried me from the “What’s not covered” part of the warranty:

Hybrid Vehicle Battery Pack; Hybrid Vehicle Battery Plug Assembly; Hybrid Vehicle Relay Assembly; Hybrid Vehicle Supply Battery Assembly;

Yes it's new design, but question is - is it just opened version of cover or opened version of cover + different material of metal clamp
Yup. Is the clamp a new metal, or just with a coating on it, or neither. The $64,000 question.

hello , could you clairify for me about your rav4 ? Do you have a 2021model that you got in Feb. of 2022 , or do you have a 2021 model you got in Feb. of 2021 .
When I got my Kentucky 2022 model built in Jan, of 2022 , there were 2021 models that were built in Japan in transit to my dealer at the same time. .

I've got a 2021 model that I got back in Feb 2021. Built in Canada, so maybe the new parts were used only in some of the North America factories?
