I have a 2019 XSE with 34K miles. The last time I checked the coolant levels was around 20K after dealer performed complimentary service. I did my own oil change at 30K miles but didn't check at that time. You don't have to tell me, I'm a horrible person I know.
Fast forward to yesterday I opened the hood and found the regular coolant level was fine, but the smaller inverter reservoir was at the LOW level. Toyota Service Dept. was closed yesterday and today so I couldn't buy their OE 50/50 Pre-Diluted Super Long Life Coolant. I went to a local NAPA and bought Zerex Valvoline Asian Vehicle Anti-Freeze Coolant and topped off.
My question is, is it normal to lose that much inverter coolant in 14K miles? I live in SoCal where it's warm, but that sounds like a lot of evap. I didn't notice any leaking but will definitely monitor it going forward. My MPG has been low for a Hybrid (33-35) but I always attributed that to the hills and inclines where I live (+ flow of traffic freeway speeds). I've also noticed ICE being on more frequently in the last few months. Should I be concerned about any potential damage or issues?
