I just put Defenders on my '06 Accord and don't consider them noisy. And that's on a car brand that almost always get dinged by Consumers Reports for road noise.
If the noise has any pattern to it as vanib mentions you could have a defective tire or "seconds."
Otherwise I'd give them a couple hundred miles to wear in and see if they quiet down some.

Another vote here for the Bridgestone Ecopia EP422. I've had them for about a year and they are much quieter than the OEM Yokos.

Check your tire pressures. They could be over inflated. Tire techs that mount tires use high PSI to set the bead of the tire. Some don't actually check and adjust the tire pressure before putting them back on your vehicle...

I once bought a used vehicle from a dealer, it had new tires but when I checked the tires were at 44 PSI, recommended was 32 PSI.

Wow, I'm very surprised you have noisey Defenders. I replaced the OEM Toyos with the Michelins and they are very noticeably quieter. Don't forget, some road surfaces, like siped concrete will still be noisier than say, asphalt. As others on here have mentioned, check pressure and possibly alignment.

Alignment is good, air pres 32,so I hope they aren't seconds, and seems to come from all corners, but with the positives so far of much improved ride, tire seems to absorb small bumps much better, steering feel improved, wet traction much improved (fuel max spun was easier when starting out on wet,w v6) the positive reviews on wear,I've decided I can live with them if fuel mileage about the same..I never experenced the oem tires as mine had new fuel max when I bought car at 50K..btw fuel max's went 45K with at least 5-8k left, which pleased me as I did a lot of spinning on wet and dry roads,an at 24-26mpg in town,28-30 hwy fuel mileage great, but the trade off was characteristics that what I would with a hard compound tires..Thanks for the input,all...Randy

I also have the Defenders. Extremely quiet for me. HUGE difference over the previous set of Michelins I had. Better ride, too. I've had them for 40,000 miles and they are still at 7/32's too.

Michelin corporate customer service did really right by me and told Discount tire to put me a set of Mich Latitude Tour on for no charge even though I was weeks past the 30 day ride guarantee.Great customer service! The Lats are quiet enough to be tolerable but not quiet at all, especially when turning..ride and traction are excellent compared to fuel max but gas mileage is down 10-15%..When these are worn out Conti's will likely be on my radar.I've also learned to put little faith in Consumer Reports for noise ratings..Cheers,Randy

I'm glad they took care of you. Like others, I have Defenders and not having a noise problem, but I think the RAV4 overall is a noisy vehicle.

Right after I got my Defenders, I had one deflate at high speed and self destructed with less than 1000 miles on it. The tire store said it looked like I hit something and claimed "Road Hazard" damage, and said it was not covered. I simply lost $200 just like that in a bat of an eye. I called Michelin and they called the tire store where I bought them. They concluded that I indeed must of hit something, but since I had already replaced the tire with another Defender, they reimbursed me half the cost as a goodwill gesture. If I hit anything, I sure didn't feel it. Strangely, the tire that self-destructed was a rear tire, so I don't know how you hit something in the rear tire without it hitting the front tire first on a straight road at high speed.

Anyhow, that is all in the past and I'm over it. But at least Michelin did do something to help me, so yeah, there customer service seems to be OK.

I know u tired the michie latitude. I have them know and will probably get them again. I heard continue might be good but wear fast IMHO. I had pirelli p4 on my Honda very quiet and that car was 11yr old. So with that I agree rav4 is a noisy vehicle. I don't care what others say its noisy and that the way it is. So if u any quiet you will need to get a sedan. Sorry dude. I just turn up the radio. Hope u find tires. Tires are always a pain to pick good one and none are cheap.
