I KNOW I must be in the minority . . . . . I just do not get the fascination/popularity with BLACK. Even gray.

Black or gray paint, blacked out windows, black rims, thorazine dosed view.

It's just a matter of personal preference. For me I like black on black since I'm not looking to stand out. When I had a Mustang I had Bullitt style wheels in gloss black with a chrome lip that really made the wheel look good IMO. For the RAV4 I was debating between bronze or black but since nobody had a bronze version I could see in person I decided to go with black. I think no matter what color RAV4 I would've gotten most likely I would still get black wheels. It's just what I like for my car and doesn't matter to me if it's the same color everyone else is doing. At the end of the day I'm looking at the car everyday and have to like what I see.

How do you like the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus? Had them off-road or in snow?
So far they seem pretty good. A little extra road noise but very good in dry & wet weather. Just got them recently so no snow experience. I'm still trying to find someone that will do a lift kit on a RAV4 so no off-roading yet just some gravel & dirt..

Still workin' out a few minor rub issues, but once they are figured out I will post as I've been documenting the process for prosperity. Cause shared knowledge is the best knowledge!

Nice looking rig!

A few questions if you don’t mind...
Is she lifted?
Why so big on the rubber?
How do you like those sexy tires?

Thanks!

  • She is currently sitting @ stock height. This may change soon....
  • I have a hard time not doing anything I actually decide to do in near excess, this spreads out into my rubber choice as well apparently....also was looking to get the most additional ground clearance as possible and this is the best I could do in the Wildpeak AT3. Also love the max stuffed wheel well look, while keeping it lower slung, gives it that baja rally feel.
  • So far so good! Haven't really put the boots to them off the pavement yet as I wanna make sure my rub/clearance issues are remedied on the pavement before getting buck wild in the bush.

And thanks for the compliments! I will let her know lol!

For everyone that has their car lifted and bigger wheels/ tires combo, is the spare tire in the trunk still useful? also im assuming the jack in the trunk is useless as well.

What do you guys have to prepare for emergencies situations?

I use my old wheels as a full sized spare. I also carry a jack and 2x4's.

Subaru's with their mechanically linked AWD requires the spare to be the same diameter as the other tires within 1/4'' of tread.

I wonder if Toyota's hybrid AWD can get around that so you can run a 30.5'' upsized tire, and still use a 29'' spare

and I use this when going off road or trails. Feel safer with the wider base and jack stand/lock option.

Double check the sizing since they make 2 sizes. The largest size might be too tall for the RAV4 fully collapsed.

NICE! Its on sale 50% off

Thanks for the recommendation. Definitely does looks safer then the jacks with the rolling wheels. Also a good idea to upgrade my jacks at home too since its a bigger car then the one I used to own.

No problem, I store mine in this. One crate to grab and go for trips. Has enough room for my hitch recovery point, recovery strap, D ring shackles, and other off road related things like Colby Emergency tire valves

Was interested in this jack as well, but realized the total stroke of the piston itself is only 5.5" (from what I read on its Amazon reviews). This had me worried that it wouldn't be adequate to lift the vehicle high enough to decompress the suspension and actually get the wheel off the ground with out having to support the vehicle with another jack stand, readjust the jackstand feature on the jack itself and carry on lifting the vehicle to get the wheel off the ground.

Are you able to confirm the jack has enough travel to do this? As my other options is a more burly scissor jack that I would weld a larger base plate to use as an emergency jack when out and about.

Sorry I don’t have a RAV yet, and when I do it will be a Prime which has different suspension as it sits 1” higher than the Hybrid to make room for the battery. Whatever it’s short on I’ll weld on the additional height to the base plate as I like the design.

It does work for my lifted Subaru application. These vehicles don’t have a lot of flex/droop.
