Have you experienced water pump failure?

Thanks again Dr. Dyno for the guide on how to replace the water pump! Yesterday my friend and I replaced it without too much trouble. From start to finish it took about 12 hours, but that included doing some research, a lunch break, and a trip to 2 stores. If we had to do it again my guess is we could do it in 4-5 hours like others have said.

The only problem is that the car still has the same squeak as before. The water pump was definitely going bad as the pulley wobbled and you can hear the bearing grind inside, but I thought that was causing the belt to squeak. While we had everything off I should have more thoroughly inspected all of the pulleys. We did replace the idler pulley as that was grinding some.

My 2007 Rav4 2.4 original water pump leaked @ 64k miles. Since the oem was that bad, I tried the AC Delco water pump and it lasted 7 years 115 miles. I just replaced it with the Airtex water pump and will see how well this one holds up. I didn't bother to try Aisin since the oem one made by Aisin.
