I have 2011 RAV4 base model and broke my remote control key.
I went to the dealer and got key without remote and they program it
Now I want to buy and program a key that has a remote in it.
There is a key on Amazon

is there an instruction to program the key without going to locksmith or the dealer
Thanks

You need to buy the fob and the mini vci cable. There are two fob keys with different encryption so find out which one is yours. There is the G key and the dot key. The mini vci cable can be found on Ebay or Amazon which comes with the software Techstream (pirated). Program the fob key using the Techstream software by plugging the vci cable into the OBD2 port to your laptop. You can program the fob first without cutting the key. You need to program the wireless function (to open and close lock) and then the starting the engine part.

Using Techstream:

You need to find out how to install Techstream. Depending on your computer operating system you need to do a few things to the files in order for Techstream to work.
If you have an old laptop with 32 bit software lilke XP or even Win7.0 32 bit it would be easier due to the driver compatibility.

Thank you all for sharing your expertise
1- the old broken key metal part open the door but I have to use a plier for a better grip
21 My new key (no remote, just a key) I got made at the Toyota dealership does have a G on it
2- I have windows 10 laptop
Is there a video or instruction on how to use the software

The reason I ask if you can lock and unlock the car with the broken reyfob is because you can take the GUTS out of the the broken one and put it in the new one. You will also have to take the immobilizer out of the old one and swap it with the new one. Then have key cut at a locksmith.

Getting Techstream Mini vci cable Is better if you can wait a little longer

Can I buy a new remote key and basically transfer the mini board from the old broken remote key to the new one as you suggested ? Can I get the key cut any any local store like Home Depot or Walmart ?
this would be good idea if it works

Yes. You can swap the guts from the old to the new. You need to be careful when you take out the IMMOBILIZER because it can break. It may be glued in. You may want to cut the plastic around the GOOD chip to get it out. Let me see if I can find a picture of the chip in the keyfob.

I would use your local locksmith to cut the key. It shouldn't cost more than $5 because you don't need it programmed . At least in my area.

This might help you

You can swap the chip and program the remote by finding online instructions. That is exactly what I did. If you don't have the old FOB with the chip, then the only way to program the immobilizer is with the Techstream program.
