interesting. I have not heard this yet, no. but I have a 2023.
you or I could easily have a bunch of corrosion on there already because we've been driving our Primes around for multiple winters. I can't imagine that wrapping up a bunch of corrosion would be a good thing but I'm not an expert or anything.
Thanks from here too. I never open that app, it does basically nothing on my 2022 R4P SE. But this thread prompted me to take a look, and sure enough, 25TD01 applies to my car. Made my appointment. Thanks again.
I searched the web for work instructions for 25TD01 but did not find anything.
I really want to know what the exact fix is, before I will allow the dealer to touch my Prime. Toyota has implemented a number of different fixes in production:
That is lightly corroded. Notice the galvanized mesh is grey (zinc corrosion). Best to clean it and spay with one the recommended protectants. I used CRC Marine.
For comparison, here is my cable after two years of use. Notice that you can still see the silver zinc galvanized on it. I still sprayed it with protectant anyway:
As more zinc corrodes away, the underling steel wire will rust (reddish brown) and be completely gone. That is when the real problems set in (AM radio static, etc).
So what happens if there is some corrosion and they do this fix? Will the problem just develop unseen or will this fix actually stop it? One thing I don't want to do is make it worse.
Normally the engineering team at Toyota would include very specific work instructions on how to inspect and clean the cable before applying the sleeve over it.
I have a service appointment in about a week so I will see if I can get them to perform this fix.
Thank you for this info! I looked up the service campaign alert # that was posted, discovered that my 2022 Rav4 Hybrid is covered and set a date for it to be corrected. Service Dept said it would take 4 - 6 hours.
Got mine on the Ap yesterday 2021 R4P XSE Just scheduled the repair for Oct 8. Service advisor said it is a new recall so plan on a few hours and tried to get me to not wait for the car. I'll bring a book as I would rather wait for the car.
Bringin in mine this week to get it checked out hopefully serviced for this dealership service department says they need to inspect it first to know if they need the part? weird because the notifications were sent based on the VIN of the car.
As of yesterday (22 Sep 2025) when I got the 30k service for my 2024 Prime, the cable issue is now a recall. They inspected the vehicle, have ordered the parts, and will call me when they are in. Jack Taylor Toyota, Alexandria, VA
2024 R4P XSE here. I found the notice on the app. I do not have an active subscription, but under vehicle health, I found the Service Campaign. Went to the dealer and the service rep told me he wasn't aware of any vehicles having been serviced for this. I understand the service requirement was just issued for my car, but this issue seems to have been going on for many years, so I would have expected the dealership would have been familiar with this work. I am reluctant to have them learn on my car. Can anyone comment to what extent they need to disassemble the vehicle, (rear seats removed, etc?)
I got my notice on the app yesterday. Says the dealer "will apply a wire harness protector seal to the HV Floor Under Wire Connector." Doesn't sound like they replace the cable. Since I have the open side housing, exposing the braid, how does a protector seal on the connector keep the braid from corroding?
I will see my dealer in the next few days to get more details.
I'm going to wait until the spring of 26 to get this done on my wife's 22, put it through another brutal winter of road salt. That will be 4 winters by then. Hope to get a new cable. If the fix for 22 didn't work this cable has got to be destroyed by now, we get pounded here with what feels like more salt than snow in upstate NY.
With the Prime, I'll make the appointment, that one has been babied, should be pristine.
Thanks for posting, this should stop the misinformation.
Is "check whether the specific DTC is outputted" the determining factor on if you get a new cable? because there is a whole lot of time between the start of corrosion and an error code.
So basically, this LSC expands 22TE09 to include Primes that have the older or not current cables and now they get a 10 year warranty. I've got to print this stuff out no it can't be refuted if there's ever a problem.
