Have any of you updated this software on your own? Any issues or concerns or suggestions? How do you check the present software version in your car to see if indeed the update is required since perhaps the dealer might have installed updates during the free maintenance period? Thanks

I have updated both on my 2019 Limited a couple of times. The first time I decided to take some pictures with the intention of creating a guide. Attached is that guide. I haven't needed to update the software recently but I don't think anything has changed.

I did mine recently (2020-Lim).
Here's how it went down though.

In another thread someone was asking about adding USB ports to the vehicle using OEM USB part number.
That thread led me to look into firmware on my system.
Went in and did a "chck for updates" and it said "no updates available" (uses the DCM/OTA feature to check).
Hmmm, that had me looking, found the updates site, and both firmwares needed updating, many version numbers past mine was available for download.
I followed the directions and did both updates. Not sure I recognize any diffs though.

I guessing, the manual checking from the screen likely has a bug on their backend and it fails to properly recognize that there's actual updates available.

No guess about it; I had the same thing happen. When I installed a Corolla radio in my RAV4 ((43) Cheap Audio Plus 8" Display Upgrade with Corolla Radio | Toyota RAV4 Forums ) it did an immediate over the air update when I turned in on for the first time, then showed that it was up to date after that. When when I checked with the Toyota software update web site, it showed that there was still another update that I needed, so I had to download that onto a USB for installation.

I visited my local dealer for a scheduled service maintenance today. I asked the technician to check if there were any firmware updates on my RAV4 2020 hybrid limited. Surprisingly there was an update for navigation. Even if Toyota's website showed nav ver 1150, the dealer updated it to 1225 indeed. Maybe check with your local dealer on your next visit.

Can anyone provide a link to the EU update for the multimedia system? I have a RAV4 2020 and have stability issues with CarPlay. The latest firmware update for the US market seems to address these issues, but the EU dealers charge a significant amount to do the update. I’m perfectly able to put files on a USB flash drive myself.

Thanks for posting this! I updated the software a few weeks ago and noticed smoother performance. One thing I’ll mention, kind of unrelated but funny — before this update, I had trouble uploading service documents, so I actually used a FAX App to send some forms to the dealership. Felt like I time-traveled. Still, it worked, and it’s one of those weird tools you never think you’ll need until you do.
