Some 2023 model year GR Corolla, RAV4, RAV4 Hybrid, RAV4 Prime, and Venza Hybrid vehicles with multimedia version older than 1564 may exhibit one or more of the following conditions:
 Head unit rebooting (does not affect backup camera).
 Head unit does not boot up (does not affect backup camera).
 Display screen flickers (does not affect backup camera).
 Map is not displayed.
 User profile enhancements.
 The French “Share ETA” screen is not completely in French.
 Incoming call ringing continues even after ignoring or ending the call.

In prior years, most RAV4 radios were made by Pioneer. Did Toyota switch to Denso Ten for the '23 models (10.3")?
In the 2023, at least the 10.5 inch in mine, is Denso-Ten. I was playing around in the service menu on mine and snapped some photos. The way this TSB is written though makes it seem like the 8-inch unit on the 2023 is also Denso-Ten.

The 10.5” on our 2023 Limited hasn’t gone wonky for a couple of months now (knock on wood). We were out driving yesterday evening and it did another OTA software update. Just out of curiosity after reading these posts, I went into the settings to software updates. It says none are available, but in the history, there’s about 6 updates logged with version 1310 at the top. The next one down is 2666. No dates are shown by any of them, but 2666 is the highest number on the entire list.

1310 is probably the top one for yours and listed as HU.

This TSB will bring your 1310 HU software up to 1564.

It seems the version number is tied to when your RAV4 was assembled and the version in use at the time.

Mine was assembled in March and came with version 1452. I'm guessing your RAV4 was probably built before March.

I queried a few VINs I found on local dealership lots in TIS and the OTA version number on all the current ones on the lot were 1564 for both the 8 inch and 10.5 inch. This seems to be the latest version in use on the assembly line.

Another interesting thing I found was that Japan assembled 10.5 inch Rav4s have a different part number headunit than the North American assembled Rav4s. The price and description is identical and do not appear to be a supersession.

It was built in Canada in November 2022 and we bought it in early December 2022. We see OTA updates occur every 6 weeks or so. We’ve had the on/off screen issue happen 3 times on us, but it’s been a couple of months now. One thing that has always occurred since we got it is the wandering and inaccurate map locator when using Apple Car Play. We have the 1 year free connected service package and the map on the screen works fine when using this through Toyota. If I’m in the car and pull up directions on Apple Maps, it all works fine on the phone, but as soon as I hook it into Apple Car Play and project the map on the screen from the phone, it gives a wandering map arrow locator and directions that are telling us to take turns or exit ramps that I know are inaccurate. No OTA updates have ever resolved this. I’m beginning to think that Toyota does this purposely to make people pay the $15.99/month fee to have an accurate map on the screen instead of allowing one to be broadcast from your phone through Car Play.

The 2023+ requires you to export your head unit JSON file hash to a flash drive and then enter your VIN on the Toyota Software Downloads site and upload your JSON file from the car.

If you just select the year/car etc. from the drop down and don't provide the above it will always say there are no updates.

This was a change from the 2019 to 2022 Rav4s which did not have this requirement.

I still have the 1564 files from when I subscribed to TIS and just did the TSB on my own at home, but it was pretty large if I remember correctly (1GB or so, can't remember exactly).

The update files for the 2023 are identical, the same file does both the 8 inch and 10.5 inch headunits. It seems they share the same chipsets, just are paired with bigger displays. It doesn't matter if it's JBL or non-JBL.

Depends on trim level. Most "Audio" radios are Pioneer. Most "Audio Plus" radios are Denso Ten. I believe most "Premium Audio" (i.e. JBL) are also Denso Ten. There are even a few Fujitsu radios in the mix. The only real difference I can see in "Audio" verses "Audio Plus" radios is the latter adds HD.

This thread gives a breakdown on which radio units, by part number, come from which manufacturer: (43) Cheap Audio Plus 8" Display Upgrade with Corolla Radio | Toyota RAV4 Forums

My RAV4 XLE Premium came with the -0R320 "Audio" radio made my Pioneer. I first upgraded it to a Corolla "Audio" radio, part number -12610. Just recently, I found an "Audio Plus" radio at a good price, -0R370, made by Denso Ten.

The links in the TSB won't work unless you have an active TIS Professional Diagnostics subscription. Your dealership can perform the update for free if they like you, or you can subscribe for a couple days to do it yourself at home.

My dealership hates everyone so I did it myself.

It says that it has no update available for any rav4 2023.
Exactly what Will4Tacos said would happen:

You have to do as he said:

well, did all that but says that it has the latest update..
Checking here though: https://www.rav4world.com/attachments/t-tci-5623-en-copy-pdf.201934/ It says that the latestupadte is file rb_update_2023_RAV4_NE_HU_C_01564 which is the one i am looking for. The link though is for: /t3Portal/calibration/rb_update_2023_RAV4_NE_HU_C_01564 which i don't know where it refers. It it for this site? TIS

@FKHeath @WillRav4Tacos i apreciate your feedback. Thanks again.
