You know, the ones that go one when you open the visor? I sort of tried with a flat head screwdriver but it feels like it'll break if I apply too much pressure. I already managed to break one of the map light covers trying to get that off (superglued it on the clamps part and it stays now). I haven't even tried the dome lights in the back yet, I have no idea how to do those.

So, my last car was a 2008 WRX. Every light in the car that you could change was a matter of using your fingernail to pry off. They were all really easy. This Rav4 is a great car, but the covers for simple things like bulbs seem to be designed to have you go to a dealership and get charged for two hours of labor to change some bulbs. Is there a manual or something somewhere? I can't find any pages online, no DIY videos for the Rav4, nothing.

I used plastic trim removal tools, yes it does require more pressure than normal but they will come off, just use caution.

Yes, I usually use the trim removal tool to make some space for my fingers and then my fingers do the rest (sometimes it's even painful). As far as I can remember the vanity/mirror lights need to be pulled down from one of the sides first but I can't remember if it's the left or right side of the light.

Cool. I ordered a trim removal tool set from Amazon. Any idea why Toyota makes it so hard to do this stuff? I change my headlights bulbs earlier tonight (without taking the shield off) and the placement of the right low-beam was just a little silly. I was barely able to do it. On the other hand, changing the air filter and cabin air filters were easy enough.

Yeah those like really nice, probably nicer than mine. You should be good with those.

I managed to get all the covers off with a sharp knife. The mirror ones are the worst. They're in really tight and when you do get them out, the bulbs don't just pop out like in the picture on that how-to page. I had to pull the housing out to unclip it to get the bulb out. Still those tools will be good for when I do the radio and speakers down the line.

I noticed the person with the tutorial messed up their vanity light housing by using the wrong tool. You will be prying on the small side of the lens. One side of the lens has a small tab and the other side has a larger tab. Pry down on the end with the small tab. Don't reverse the lens or it will never snap back in right.
