$5 after market solution:

If the hard plastic hitting the glass doesn’t get your attention the tire stop should after that the freezer in the garage is the last defense before the laundry room on the other side 😁

On a serious note I placed the hard plastic ball from the ceiling so the back hatch clears the garage door when open.

This thinking 🧐 maximizes room in front of the Rav 4 plus if you have a garage door that automatically closes after a set time and you forgot to close the back hatch after taking in groceries your garage door will not whack the open hatch.

Our shop is recommending installing electromagnetic parking sensors on our Rav4 Prime SE. Is there any chance these would interfere with the car's battery?
Is there a specific product your shop is looking to install? Never considered having someone install it professionally. Certainly less risk of messing something up on my own.

It's one of the glaring deficiencies in the SE Prime; front and rear parking sensors should be standard nowadays in all vehicles, just as rear-view cameras are when the car is in reverse. In fact, if I had to choose between the rear-view camera and front/rear parking sensors, I'd choose the latter every time. The loud noise when the car is in reverse is also unnecessary when you have a working rear camera; somebody at Toyota is not thinking this through...
Sure they are they just want to have you splurge for the PP! My XSE doesn't have them of course and for the garage it's the tennis ball gig and of course it's easy, cheap, and never fails.

Just received our new Rav4 Prime SE on Friday.
FWIW, I was very struck by how difficult it was to sense how close I was to something in front of me--another car in a parking lot, the garage walls, etc. But over a fairly short time I got much better at it. Plus, rarely in parking places is it so critical to get close to other cars in front of you. In fact my tact is to stay as far away from other cars in parking lots as best I can! Congrats on your new car it's a fabulous ride, but has some quirks to learn about which visiting here will get you up to speed on.

Glad I read this post. I wasn't aware that the XSE also didn't have parking sensors unless Premium Package was included. Our XSE is scheduled to arrive in the next week and it doesn’t have the premium package. Dealer doesn’t have any Prime allocation with Premium package either. Wife says she needs parking sensors as she’s had them for the past 11 years on her Odyssey. Dealer said that customers haven’t been happy with the aftermarket sensor systems. At this point, I’m not sure what to do.

Anyone regret not having parking sensors on their Prime after having them on their prior vehicle?

Front sensors would be nice. But I also like to back into spots frequently, so the rear camera works for that. Not great if you have lots to load in the back though. I did see some talk of adding front camera's and a toggle switch between it and the rear camera as well.

There are OEM style after market sensors folks are installing, but the big question is, WILL THEY WORK IN THE PRIME, due to the fact that our CANBUS is encrypted!!

I found this review of a product on amazon that appears to say that it works with a Prime. Plus ordering from amazon gives me greater confidence in a return if it doesn't end up working. I will probably end up ordering this and installing sometime this summer.

Please post pictures of your installation and commentary after you finish.
