Hi,
Even though this thread started a long time ago it is still active. I have done as in the write up of rivot by splitting the switch wiring from the relay connector that go with the kit. However as many others I have not purchased from trend gear and have different coloring.

Mine is
2x yellow going from two to one wire (marked ACC)
1x Blue
1x Black (marked ground).

My initial thought would be to use black as ground, yellow for the illumination light and blue to the grey cable (pin4). Would a try mess up anything in the car electronics?

Thanks

You will not mess any electronics up. It either works or does not work.

Hello! Did you get it to work with this connection? "black as ground, yellow for the illumination light and blue to the grey cable (pin4)" I have the same kit as you with same colored wires on switch. Testing continuity with switch ON it connects yellow to blue. To turn on fog lights ON, you need to apply ground to pin 4 grey. So I don't see how that would have worked.

Just to be clear, this post is regarding the generic cheap fog lights off ebay that I paid $37 delivered, similar to BKF. I ended up blue switch wire to pin 4 grey on steering column. They grounded the two yellow wires to chassis. It could have been the other way around. It works fine. I left the black wire unconnected. I could have tried to connect to green wire on dimmer switch but got lazy. I don't like the crimper splices and soldering is a pain just for an illuminated switch. You really don't need it since it turns off with the key and low beam off. I haven't set the height adjustment and it's probably a bit high. My test drive had good results, much better than my faded headlights alone. Thanks all who support the forum. Love my 4WD RAV4.3 with the V6. It's truely a sleeper and hope to keep it for some time.
Cheers,
Brian

Hi,
For me it worked with both black and yellow from the switch to the grey wire (4pin). I played around with various configurations and my conclusion was that the blue switch wire needed to go to ground, regardless. The fog lights also come on without the low beam lights being enabled.

My girlfriend installed some Diode Dynamics fog lights over the weekend. She likes them and they fit pretty well. The kit was nice and everything worked perfectly. We made a little video as she is kind of getting into working on her Rav4 a little bit. Let us know what you think.

Hello, sorry for posting in an old thread but didn't think it was worthy of a new post...
My question is my rav was made in Canada but I live in the us. I think it was originally sold in the us as well...

Will it have the wiring if it was sold here but made in Canada...I know people said Canada ravs don't have the prewire

Our 2011 Canadian made Rav4, 4 cylinder base, that we bought new in California, does not have the wiring present. I’ve heard claims that at least some V6 models made in Canada and sold in the US do however.
