Bringin in mine this week to get it checked out hopefully serviced for this dealership service department says they need to inspect it first to know if they need the part? weird because the notifications were sent based on the VIN of the car.

Have a copy of this recall for 2024’s?
2024 R4P XSE here. I found the notice on the app. I do not have an active subscription, but under vehicle health, I found the Service Campaign. Went to the dealer and the service rep told me he wasn't aware of any vehicles having been serviced for this. I understand the service requirement was just issued for my car, but this issue seems to have been going on for many years, so I would have expected the dealership would have been familiar with this work. I am reluctant to have them learn on my car. Can anyone comment to what extent they need to disassemble the vehicle, (rear seats removed, etc?)

TIA

My service paperwork has the text below.

25TD01 Rear Traction Motor Cable Corrosion - Multiple Model & Mod
Ordered SOP
04004- 0714A Protector, Wiring SPO
04004-7410R Repair Kit, Wire SPO
00295-00103 FIPG Oil Pan SPO
The first two do not show up on the official Toyota parts web site -- yet.

The third item is just sealant for the oil pan: Amazon.com: Toyota Genuine Fluid 00295-00103 Formed-in-Place Oil Pan Gasket - 3 oz. Tube : Automotive

I got my notice on the app yesterday. Says the dealer "will apply a wire harness protector seal to the HV Floor Under Wire Connector." Doesn't sound like they replace the cable. Since I have the open side housing, exposing the braid, how does a protector seal on the connector keep the braid from corroding?

I will see my dealer in the next few days to get more details.

Don’t read anything into the service writer saying they haven’t seen the issue. It’s not in their best interests to admit they have seen even the most common of problems. The RAV4 hybrid and Prime are common enough there is a good chance a service department has experienced everything and will know what to do. Of course the quality of the work depends on the quality of the tech doing it.

Any chance to get a photo from under your fixed car?

The connector that is being repaired is under the car where the high voltage cable plugs into the rear electric motor. Although there has been a continuing issue with this connector, this particular fix has just recently been released by Toyota. Thus, it is likely that the dealer has not applied this particular repair yet.

Got it:

(See attachment). Sorry, it is upside down, so print it out and flip it over!

Obviously not replacing the cable. Repair time is 1.4 hours, but my dealer tells me that I must leave my car there all day.

Reading between the lines I think they are wrapping and caulking the connector to Version 4 of the HW (2024+).

I'm going to wait until the spring of 26 to get this done on my wife's 22, put it through another brutal winter of road salt. That will be 4 winters by then. Hope to get a new cable. If the fix for 22 didn't work this cable has got to be destroyed by now, we get pounded here with what feels like more salt than snow in upstate NY.

With the Prime, I'll make the appointment, that one has been babied, should be pristine.

Thanks for posting, this should stop the misinformation.
