I have the same issue since I bought the car March, 2023. I tried to troubleshoot the issue but no luck. It's back with same issue keep rebooting all the time which is so annoying while driving and got lost with the google map on my way to destination.

I have a 2019 rav4 limited - 50,000km. After 3 weeks vacation, it was parked in the garage.

I started my car. The display touch screen did not work. I think I have the same issue.

Someone told me to try this suggestion which is worked for my screen:

“Apply the parking brake. Shift the gear selector to Reverse. Leave the vehicle in Reverse for a minimum of five minutes. After the five minutes have elapsed, shift the gear selector back to Park. The radio should now boot up normally. (engine not running, but vehicle on - press start button twice without foot on brake).”

Please try and see how work your car.

I bought a 2023 RAV4 in November of 2022 and last week the multimedia screen stopped working. I was driving and the screen rebooted 3 times in 5 minutes and then the by the 4th time it turned off I was unable to turn it on. When the car is on reverse the monitor shows the backup camera and as soon as I put it in drive the screen goes black. At the same time the USB outlet doesn’t charge the phone as well. I sent the car to the dealership today and they did a reset and the screen started working, the dealer said that there is no guarantee the fix will last as a lot of people are reporting the same issue for this model and Toyota is working on a permanent software update. I started driving and the same happened, the screens rebooted 3 times and the 4th time it turned off, it didn’t turn on again. Is someone else having the same issues? Any updates from Toyota on when will they have a permanent software update for this issue? My dealer didn’t have an answer on this and they said it could take weeks to a year until Toyota comes with a software update. It is annoying driving a brand new car and the screen to not work, meaning no GPS, radio etc.
After 7,000 I got the same problem and I have no idea what to do next! So annoying!

I have a 2023 XLE that I took delivery on at the end of April. It's now the beginning of July and have about 1200 miles on it. The rebooting started happening yesterday. Today I drove it about 10 miles away and it worked fine, but on the drive home it started doing it again. It reached the point that it was off for a minute, then it would come on and then quickly turn off. Sometimes it would ask for a PIN. Once I tried to type a PIN in, but it shut off before I could type 3 or 4 numbers.

Of course, this is happening just before a busy weekend and then I'm going out of town for a week, so I really don't have time to get it to the dealership. I don't think they will be able to fix this, but at least I will document that I have this problem.

This is pretty damn frustrating. This car replaced my 2001 Rav4, which had two minor software glitches early on (revs would surge when cold, and a false error code) which were fixed by a TSB, but has otherwise been bulletproof for over 21 years. I was pretty happy to get my new Rav4 with the cool multifunction screen, but this is a major disappointment. When I bought my new Rav4, I thought about buying another brand, but decided to stick with Toyota. I've bought about 10 Toyotas over my life (starting with a pickup in 1986) for me and my family, and they have been very reliable from day one. I also paid a premium for a Toyota. Their quality is slipping!

I took mine to the dealer today. They just called and said they installed a software update and it's working now. I was surprised that an update was available. I also thought that we could update the software through our phone - I've done that for other Toyotas I've owned.

I have a 2023 Toyota RAV4 XLE I got in December 2022. Having the same issue where the screen turns off and on roughly every 5 seconds and sometimes says “your session expired”. It’s frustrating given that it’s a new car. Toyota believes it needs to update the system, but I’m not so sure now after reading many comments.
I have the same model and it just started doing this. Dealership said they didn’t know what it was, and to bring in the car. Yet they can’t tell me how long they’ll have my car, or what the fix is. And they had someone else with the same issue today.

I just got home from the dealer with my car. The receipt says:

EL2303 updated radio software per TSB0041-23

I can't find any information on that.

It can take several months for Toyota to post T-SBs for public view. I think the law requires all T-SBs to be posted on the NHTSA web site. The dealer can often see them before the public.

I just tried unplugging the battery ( not hybrid battery, the 12V) for 15min. its located back right of trunk.

After hooking back up, it seems to have resolved the issue. Hopefully permanently.
I will post any updates.
We were on a road trip and the same thing was happening to us in our 2023 RAV4 LE. Screen kept rebooting and every time, it kicked the usb power on and off too.

We tried a quick unplug of the battery and it’s seems to have reset it. Good ‘ol on/off trick. It asks for our PIN, which we can’t remember but at least it’s functional and not rebooting every 20 seconds. It’s been working for 8 hours now and made it home without issues yet.

I have a 2023 Limited with the 10.5 inch screen and have not had rebooting issues. Sometimes my Pixel 7 Pro will not connect automatically to wireless Android Auto but that is my biggest issue. Try unpairing your phone and repairing.

Your infotainment be struggling to connect to your phone and cause a reboot issue.

The same thing just happened to me today. Interestingly, I picked up my Toyota RAV4 in November of last year. I thought I was going crazy for a moment. Thank you for writing this so I will contact the dealer instead of reading through all the books they gave me. Lol.

Update: Although they said it's covered in our warranty, it's been nearly 6 weeks and there's no end in sight. After speaking with the service department, they admitted on my 3rd visit that they had no idea when the part would arrive. I wrote the service manager and said that it was unacceptable that there was no ETA and demanded a response. That was a week ago and they've never responded. We have never experienced anything like this from Toyota and are disgusted. We are now considering action through the Better Business Bureau and State Attorney and consumer protection division to see what our options are.

Update. After 7 weeks and an angry letter to the service manager, we finally got the radio fixed. We never got a response from the manager, but we did get notice eventually from a service tech that the unit had arrived, so we took it in and they got it fixed that afternoon. FYI, the 2022 ans 2023 have completely different display consoles. I've read where the 2022 can be reset if it blacks out, but not the 2023.

I also have the 2023 Rav 4 and my screen also went out . Going round two to the dealership. They told me they haven’t seen this problem and I’m the only one. I find that odd considering several complaints are all over the internet . They must not be very knowledgeable about their brand of vehicles. So I basically have a brand new car and no radio no charger nor blue tooth nothing !!!!! They won’t even probably give me what it’s worth now with a service order and the screen not working .

Please remember the dealership is small. The internet is large. Toyota is looking into the fix I would think. Is it a software update? I would think so. Easy fix within time.

Did they charge you for running diagnostics? I too have similar issues for my 2023 rav4 hybrid.

Yes I am having the same problem. It just keeps turning on and off but back up screen still works. The first time it happened was 2 weeks after getting it. Now 9 months I'm Waiting for a new radio to come in at the moment. Not happy, very disappointed in Toyota!
