Hi everyone, I wanted to reply in the main thread but it looks like it got locked for replies. I found an upgraded version of the OBD auto door lock module that allows you to select different modes for locking, unlocking, and the ability to disable the annoying hazard flashing feature from the previous generation OBD modules. However, in the compatible car model list the seller lists newer European/Asian market Toyota models only and does not list the 2006-2012 RAV4 as compatible.
So my question is: Since these modules use the car's CANBUS network to determine speed, gear status, door open/close status, etc, does anyone know if the CANBUS network would also be compatible with previous generation Toyota vehicles, i.e our 2006-2012 RAV4s? I would assume they're standardized, but I have no way of confirming besides taking the plunge and buying one to try myself.
The reason I'm interested in this one is because it allows you to select P shift to unlock the doors instead of engine off. I use an aftermarket remote car starter (Compustar) in the winter and the engine off unlock in the previous generation OBD modules is causing the doors to unlock after the car shuts off from remote starting.
Thanks
Victor
